Pack and Move Furniture –Some Facts

Do not oil or wax furniture before 3-4 days of move. Woods get soften and furniture can be bent in the way. So, do not oil up the furniture. Also do not re-paint the furniture as new coats of paint need long time to dry up. So, it will be better to re-paint your furniture after relocation.

Pack furniture well to move them to new home. Properly cover leather and upholstered furniture. Use old blanket to bubble wrap to cover the furniture. Properly drape the blanket or wrapper around the furniture and tie them with rope. You can also bring couch and loveseat to keep the furniture and move them.

Dismantle the detachable portion of the furniture. It is easy to pack smaller item as compared to that of larger one.

If you are leaving some items in the drawer then make them fix so that they do not jump and dance while moving. If they jump, they may be damaged. However, you can freely leave clothes inside the drawer.

Do not dare to leave fragile items in the drawer. It can be risky. Also do not leave any heavier item in the drawer.

Packing furniture is not too difficult. You can easily pack them. However, if there is glass work in the furniture, you need to handle them with care. Cover the glass portion with the foam.

Properly lock the doors of drawer before loading them in truck. Use large sized truck to move the furniture. Furniture is generally big in size and cannot be transported in small trailer.
